New model was put through its paces on a private Spanish mountain road

Journalists from 10 of the industry’s biggest titles ventured to Barcelona last week for the Ibiza CUPRA international media launch.
For their first drive of the new model, the journalists took to five miles of closed off mountain roads to test the car in its optimum environment. After a press conference the guests drove back to Barcelona for some city driving and headed to a Spanish restaurant for the evening.
Positive reviews from the event have already been published:
Dan Prosser from Evo said “With more power and torque than the previous Ibiza CUPRA, this facelifted model has the firepower.”
Vicky Parrott for Autocar said: “The Ibiza CUPRA SC is a really accomplished car. It’s fun in a safe yet invigorating way; it looks pretty cool and it’s fast enough to thrill while being small and benign enough to suit UK roads well.”
The new Ibiza CUPRA is now powered by a 1.8 petrol engine, mated to a slick six-speed gearbox, instead of the former 1.4 with DSG. As a result, it has significantly more power: an extra 12 PS and a lot more torque. The new model has larger front brakes and the CUPRA Drive Profile provides adjustable dampers and steering. In line with the rest of the new Ibiza range, the model comes with Full Link for seamless connectivity; an aesthetically-improved interior and greater levels of quality.
