The facelifted SEAT Ateca has hit UK roads for the first time and we’ve given the key to UK journalists to experience our updated mid-size SUV for themselves.
Overall feedback is the Ateca is a better all-round package, in particular the SE Tech with the 1.0-litre three-cylinder engine. Top motoring publications give the Ateca 4.5 stars out of 5 (Autocar) and 8 out of 10 (Top Gear), which are both improvements over the previous model. Auto Express and What Car? both retain their strong 4 star ratings.

‘The Ateca was already a perfectly practical crossover with a respectable degree of dynamism and this latest round of updates does nothing to diminish that. Technology improvements help it to remain competitive with the rest of the class and incorporating what were previously optional extras into the standard trim levels means anyone already in the market for one now stands to get slightly more for their money, which is never a bad thing.’
‘If you’re looking for a family SUV that’s good to drive, practical and well-priced, the Ateca could be all the car you’ll ever need. Either way, it’s certainly retained its spot as one of the leaders in the hyper competitive mid-size SUV class.’
‘The Seat Ateca isn’t just great to drive and attractive to look at, it’s also impressively spacious, well equipped and competitively priced. Put simply, if you’re looking for a family SUV that’s also capable of putting a smile on your face, the Ateca needs to be very high on your shopping list.’
‘This latest facelift hasn’t done much to change our opinion of the Ateca. It remains one of the best five-seat crossovers you can buy. It drives well, has a good range of strong, economical engines, looks/feels the part… and doesn’t cost the earth to buy in the first place.’
