The new Arona – the latest SUV to join the SEAT range – was unveiled to 250 journalists at a special event in Barcelona last night (26 June). It will be the smallest SEAT SUV, sitting alongside the mid-sized Ateca that went on sale in 2016 and a larger un-named model due to join the line-up in 2018.
The new Arona is the baby of our SUV range. It combines the advantages of a smaller car in the city with crossover attributes once you get out of urban areas. It’s elegant, spacious, practical and comfortable for the work commute, yet adventurous, robust, sporty and efficient at the weekend.
Our newest SUV also comes with safety and connectivity technology that is only seen in higher-market segments – plus SEAT’s undoubtable attractive and distinct design, as well as the brand’s sports DNA dynamism and finesse.
The Arona is the first SEAT model in the compact crossover segment, which has increased four-fold since 2015. Because of its compact size and the sensations of safety and control offered by its high driving position and modern design, it is perfect for everyday city driving as well as for fun adventures.
It will be the second model in the SEAT range after Ibiza to use the Volkswagen Group A0 MQB platform, taking advantage of the huge benefits in chassis, ride quality and comfort.
Dr Matthias Rabe, Executive Vice-President for Research and Development, said: “We’re certain the Arona is the perfect answer to the current demands of our customers, in terms of dynamic behaviour, comfort, safety and state-of-the-art technology. We are once again setting new standards in the segment.”
Along with a front hot-stamped chrome grille, full LED lights, bi-colour roof and high ride height, the Arona will be full of technology that’s been developed in larger models in the SEAT range and brought down to the A0-SUV platform. They include:
- KESSY (keyless entry and go)
- Full Link
- Blind Spot Detection
- Park Assist
- Adaptive Cruise Control
The Arona is due to open for ordering in the UK on Tuesday 3 October
