This award recognizes outstanding commitment and contribution to supporting the local community.

The Institute developed this award in recognition that the automotive sector is full of generous, community-spirited individuals and businesses doing a lot to support their local communities. But in March 2020, when the world began to face a global pandemic, there was a greater urgency for even more community support.

Like many sectors, the automotive industry was badly affected but that did not stop many individuals and businesses reaching out into their local community to give even more support to others.

The 2022 Patron’s Award seeks to identify and recognise an individual, team or business that truly went the extra mile in their efforts to support not only their own community (of family, friends and colleagues) but to try and meet the needs of their wider community; putting others before themselves and making a real difference.

Entrants for this year’s Patron’s Award needed to be able to demonstrate how they have supported the community in which they live or work and how they had gone the extra mile to help others.

In selecting Jan above the other entrants, the institute recognised Jan’s tireless work with the Uddingston Community activity Group throughout the pandemic.

Recognising Jan’s worthy win, Steve Nash, Chief Executive Officer at the Institute said “Jan’s recognition of the importance of community spirit mirrors the ethos of the IMI. Despite the business challenges the pandemic bought to dealerships nationwide, Jan immersed herself in volunteering in the community as part of a local Action Group. From arranging prescription and shopping collection for shielding residents, to organizing cooking and distributing food and essentials to those in need, Jan’s support was unfailing. Not only was she key in organising donations and suppliers, but she also rallied new volunteers to help with the distribution of hundreds of meals every day.”

All the staff at W Livingstone Ltd couldn’t be prouder of Jan for receiving worthy recognition for her tireless efforts throughout the pandemic, supporting those in most need within our wider community.
