Jan Livingstone, Customer Service Director of W Livingstone Ltd had her community work recognised by the Scottish Motor Trade Association at their annual dinner on 28 October 2021.
Jan was awarded a coveted C.A.R. (Community Activity Recognition) Star Award for her tireless work with local charity, the G71 Community Action Group.
Jan volunteered with the Action Group when the group was established by a local resident at the start of the first lockdown in March 2020. The aim of the group was to support those most in need within the community. The action group were soon delivering over 200 evening meals and lunches, with Jan finding and co-ordinating volunteer drivers (including several members of W Livingstone Ltd’s staff!) to deliver these much-needed meals to those in need. Jan, while still managing her responsibilities within the business, spent all of her spare time working tirelessly for the action group also organising ‘essential packs’ to households who were in need but were able to make their own meals. With Jan’s help the action group has also set up a clothes bank and even carried out Easter, Halloween and Christmas convoys where she and other volunteers drove around the wider community giving gifts to families.
The Action Group has even purchased and installed several publicly accessible defibrillators in the community, including one on our premises which we are delighted to support.
When asked by the Scottish Motor Trade Association about her involvement, Jan, in her typically under-stated way said “it is a great honour to help our community in times of need and I enjoy the camaraderie of it all. It is a team effort and we have a wealth of volunteers who have made it possible to do this. I am only one of many who give up their free time to help.”
Everyone at W Livingstone Ltd is immensely proud of Jan and her dedication to help those in the community. Congratulations Jan on receiving this well-deserved award.
