SEAT Leon Ecomotive - Autocar review

Autocar has praised one of the newest members of its long-term fleet, the Leon Ecomotive, for its fuel-sipping economy.

After several trips criss-crossing the UK’s motorway network, tester Mark Tisshaw said: “It is on these motorway runs where the Leon is in its element; the 1.6 TDI engine is at its smoothest, quietest and most efficient when spinning at motorway speeds.”

Tisshaw has been similarly impressed by the quality of the Leon Ecomotive’s interior: “I’ve quickly found a comfortable driving position too. It’s rare to find pedals so well spaced and with footrests either side for cruise control-powered motorway runs,” he said.

“It’s these little finishing touches that makes the Leon so fit for purpose.

“Sooner or later, however, I’m going to have to take the car out of its comfort zone and tackle a B-road in the Ecomotive to see how much of the Leon’s motorsport pedigree in the WTCC and BTCC has trickled down to this particular model in SEAT’s range.

“It certainly steers and handles nicely on the roundabout I’ve chucked it as so far.”
